“Another Royal Pain” is a 10 year old, 17hh dark bay thoroughbred mare. She’s a big girl at 17hh and 1350 lbs, and is powerful, athletic, and conformationally correct – if ever there was a modern day example of an old-fashioned thoroughbred mare, it would be Stella. She is very large of bone, and is built much more akin to a big-bodied warmblood than a thoroughbred. I’ll put it this way – I’m 5’8″ and long of leg. When I ride her, I look like a child with my legs halfway up her sides! I wish I could verbalize her power in words, but there are no words.
In terms of bloodlines, Stella has quite the lineup of thoroughbreds known for producing sport horses – specifically those with a talent for jumping. Buckpasser, Danzig, and Triple Bend are all known for producing sport horses with a particular talent for jumping, while Native Dancer, Northern Dancer, and Secretariat are renowned for producing athletic sport horses. Pedigree here.
In 2016, she produced a colt by Cedar, a phenomenally gorgeous 16.2 hh Holsteiner jumper owned by Maggie’s Menagerie. She is currently in foal for 2018 to Landkoenig, an athletic hunter stallion owned by Rainbow Equus Meadows and renowned for passing on his amateur friendly disposition.

Stella is an absolute dream to get in foal! Aptly nicknamed our “fertile myrtle”, you could sneeze on a straw of frozen from the other end of the barn and she would check in foal two weeks later! She is already approved ISR/Old, and will be presented to GOV in September if she is not sold. Only for sale as we have had a very fertile year, and need to thin our broodmare herd! Feel free to inquire for more details.
She is currently priced in foal to Landkoenig for 2018 at $8500.
